TECHNICAL MANAGER

Reporting to: Technical Director
Function: Production (Digital)
Effective: April 2011 (Immediate)

Job Description:
Agency.com is part of Cawley Nea TBWA, and is one of Irelands leading digital marketing agencies. Agency.com is also one of the few digital agencies that offers a full suite of services from web development, web promotions, mobile promotions, digital media planning and buying, Search strategies and eCRM. As part of global network, we also get exposure and contribute to cutting edge campaigns from around Europe and the world.

The company is currently seeking a Technical Manager to support the Technical Director. Their role will involve working with a talented internal team, sourcing and managing external suppliers, and work directly with some of the country’s biggest brands including National Lottery, ESB Electric Ireland, IDL, RTE, Topaz, Britvic, Mars, Tesco, Murphys, Heineken, Calor, NDC, Irish Times to name a few.

For these clients we are trusted with incorporating digital channels into their overall marketing strategy. To achieve this we have built systems around the mantra of Speed, Quality and Value.

The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years experience in a similar management role, that has exposed them to different IT systems, websites and all aspects of digital marketing. Overall the candidate will be able to manage the technical development of all projects to a high quality, on time and on budget. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Director of Agency.com.

Responsibilities/Activities:

Supplier Management:

  • The sourcing and managing external suppliers of a broad range of digital services
  • Develop capacity flexibility within the company and with the above suppliers
  • Deliver the best balance of speed, price and quality in the market
  • Develop the individual SLA and legal requirements for any external suppliers

Client facing / Business development:

  • Generate new business opportunities from existing clients
  • Assist in the generating new business opportunities from external clients
  • Be available for presentations on all aspects of the company offering
  • Manage the web tender response process where appropriate
  • Working closely with clients, suppliers, partners and co-workers to specify optimal solutions.

Internal Management:

  • Manage a team of multi-disciplined people when necessary
  • Contribute to the Agencies overall digital business strategy

Technical Management:

  • Application of modern and automated testing techniques to system, load and performance test tasks
  • Formulating innovative technical solutions to business problems
  • Expert at translating the technical into the commercial, and vice versa.
  • Agency experienced, you’re passionate about digital.
  • Proposing the most sophisticated, modern and Internet leading digital solutions for (digital) marketing plans.
  • Writing precise, detailed and comprehensive specifications based on requirements gathering in accordance with our methodologies.

This role requires the following:

  • You should have exposure or experience in producing systems in .net, java, php, css, html, dhtml, xml and Flash Integration. This should be in-depth where possible.
  • You should have demonstrable experience in quality control techniques at all levels of production from specification to deployment and maintenance.
  • Code management / versioning techniques and systems
  • Expert understanding of usability principles
  • Good understanding of accessibility issues and legal remit pertaining to these
  • Understanding of CSS and modern mark-up techniques
  • Excellent understanding and experience in delivering web standard WC3 projects
  • Expert understanding of SEO
  • Proven track record with integration of diverse technologies in a highly performing environment
  • Strong integrated marketing skills – where/how offline and online meet
  • Good knowledge of the physical architecture required to present secure, fast and reliable web-based systems
  • Excellent understanding of evolving digital communications
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information in a way that can be comprehended by non-technical people
  • Good and proven track record with data integration and handling

You must also:

  • Be able to work in a very fast-moving environment - multiple responsibilities
  • Be able to pass on skills, mentor and foster a (technical) team
  • Have high standards, good attention to detail and a methodological work process
  • Have an ability to work under one's own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Academic/Educational Qualifications:

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent required.
